I have always tried to capture the force of nature in my work. When you watch a plant grow you can see its intention is perfect. It uses just the right shape, amount of color, and texture to do what it has to do. I try to emulate this "philosophy" in clay, without doing realistic imitations of plants, but drawing upon essences and distilling aspects or parts to create a perfect synthesis of form and color.
My work is very tactile as a consequence; on one level it satisfies the human desire to touch and feel something attractively "natural," but on a deeper level, it rewards the user by connecting them with a very potent and tightly focused distillation of nature. It is this-the aesthetic connection that adds extra life and energy and meaning to the act of using, or simply contemplating, the piece—that is the goal and purpose of my work.
